Things To Do on a Stormy Autumn Day

The weather recently has been so gloomy, windy and wild what with the storms. There’s been heavy rain and crazy winds that has made me just want to stay inside and not go anywhere. I thought I’d put together a little list of some of my favourite things to do on an Autumn stormy day and share them here on my blog.

Have a Halloween movie day
I love getting all cosied up on the couch with a hot chocolate and a move. If the weather is to be rainy and gloomy all day then I love staying inside and watching all my favourite Halloweeny movies for this time of year. I write about my top 5 picks last time so those would be my go-to choices for a day of movie watching.

Binge watch your favourite shows
With the storm that hit recently, I actually found myself inside watching shows throughout the day. I finished The Haunting of Hill House and started The Haunting of Bly Manor - in between starting Bly Manor and finishing Hill House, I caught up on the latest episode of Scrubs😄

Carve pumpkins
Another thing I did on the storm day was carve pumpkins. I was actually booked to go  to a date night pumpkin picking at one of the local pumpkin patches (which I was so excited about because I’ve been hoping to go to a pumpkin patch for years now and this would have been my first time finally doing it!) however, due to the weather, it was postponed to the weekend after (🤞🏼) but as I was in the mood to have a cosy evening in, we just bought pumpkins from the local super market instead and took them home, made hot chocolate, and carved them.

Bake
In between the pumpkin carving, cookies were also baked! It was kind of cheating though because it was just a Betty Crocker Mix but if you found yourself stuck inside on a storm day, you could do some proper baking! This time of year is perfect for some homemade baking when the weathers not the best to be out in.

Read
Something I love to do in general on a dark, stormy day, is curl up and get all cosy with a good book. I love getting lost in other worlds and making them up in my head from what I’m reading and it’s definitely a good way to pass the time while waiting on the storm outside to pass.

Have a games day
You could fire up whatever games console you may have - for me it’s the Switch 2 - and get all comfy and cosy playing your favourite games. I’m currently loving Stardew Valley and Hogwarts Legacy. If you’re inside with someone else, I like to play Mario Kart or Nintendo Switch Sports. Of course you could also crack out the old board games or card games. I’ve gotten quite into Jenga recently 😄

What are some things you like to do when you’re staying in on a stormy day?

Bye for now, xo
