Top 5: Disney Channel Original Movies

All Disney Channel Original Movies are super cheesy but I love them anyway! There's just something so easy and comforting about them. Whether you want to properly sit down and watch a movie, or just want something to stick on in the background, I feel as though DCOMs are great movies for either purpose.

I've recently been rewatching some old favourites as well as finding new ones to watch. I thought I'd share my top 5 favourites here on my blog:

High School Musical (2006)
"A popular high-school athlete and an academically-gifted girl get roles in the school musical and develop a friendship that threatens East High's social order."

High School musical has become something of a classic in the world of Disney Channel Original Movies. It was such a big movie when it first came out - everyone at the time had seen it or at least knew of it. It's one of my all time favourite DCOM's. I was completely obsessed when it first came out and I remember getting tons of HSM themed things for Birthdays and Christmases for years afterwards. I also love the soundtrack - there are so many catchy, fun songs to sing along to. When I was younger, I went through a period where I would watch HSM at some point pretty much every weekend. The first time I ever watched it was near a new year and it just happened to be on TV and I immediately got sucked straight into the story and the songs and the dancing.

Camp Rock (2008)
"At a music camp for gifted teens, a popular teen singing star overhears a girl singing and sets out to find who the talented voice belongs to. What he doesn't know is that the girl is actually a camp kitchen worker with a fear of being heard."

I used to watch Disney Channel at my grans because she had a Sky box and my family didn't. Camp Rock was one of the only Disney Channel movies my big cousin actually liked. He stuck Camp Rock stickers on the back of his PSP and everything! I've always wanted to go to a Summer music camp so I feel as though I can live vicariously through this movie😄 Again, all of the songs are so fun and catchy! Back when I was younger, my friend and I spent a whole afternoon learning the 'Start the Party' dance. I can't even dance, but I remember having a great time anyway.

Lemonade Mouth (2011)
"Five high school kids, Olivia, Wendall, Stella, Charlie, and Mo, meet in detention and start a band based on the lemonade vending machine outside the detention room."

I didn't understand the hype around Lemonade Mouth when it first came out because I didn't properly watch it and I actually didn't like the name of the movie😄 but I have since learned top never judge a movie by its name! I first watched Lemonade Mouth last year and completely understood why so many people raved about it. Bridgit Mendler's acting is particularly great in certain scenes in this movie. I think it has a really good story and relatable characters.

Cloud 9 (2014)
"A snowboarder takes lessons from a former champion, inspiring him to reach for the stars once again."

I hadn't even heard of Cloud 9 until about a year ago when I was flicking through Disney+ for a shorter movie to watch. I chose it because Dove Cameron starred in it and I loved it! The full movie had Hallmark Christmas movie vibes without being a Christmas movie which I loved! Hallmark Christmas movies are my guilty pleasure but I only really want to watch them at Christmas time so now whenever I'm feeling a Christmassy movie at other times of the year I'll stick on Cloud 9.

Descendants (2015)
"The teenage son of the king and queen of Auradon offers the trouble-making children of villains a chance to attend prep school in the kingdom."

I remember being really interested in this movie when I heard what it was about - plus finding out that it was directed by Kenny Ortega. I think the Descendants movies are great. I love the characters, costumes and of course all of the songs. I think Kristin Chenoweth and Dove Cameron make the perfect mother-daughter pair and I wish they had more songs together (the same can be said for in Descendants 3 with Cheyenne Jackson and Dove Cameron as father-daughter - it would have been really cool to see the whole family in a scene or singing a song😄).

There are so many Disney Channel Original movies that I love as well as so many that I haven'r yet seen!

What are your favourites?

Bye for now, xo
