An Autumnal Day at the Glasgow Botanic Gardens

I love spending time outdoors in Autumn. I love to walk amongst the trees that are all different shades of gold, red and orange on a crisp Autumn day - especially if the sun is also shining. In order to make the most of the outdoors while I had some free time, I decided to travel into Glasgow with my friend to visit the Botanic gardens.

We boarded a train to Glasgow central and then went to the St Enoch subway stop to get a subway to Kelvinbridge (we could have also gotten off at Hillhead but subways aren't always the most relaxing of rides so we really just got off as soon as possible😄). From there, it was a 10ish minute walk to the beautiful botanic gardens. I really love going to the botanic gardens at this time of year - I'm saying that as though this is something I've done often when in actual fact this year was the first time I'd gone at this time of year😄. It was so golden and there were leaves everywhere, it felt so perfectly Autumnal.

The first thing we did when we arrived was stop by a little food truck selling different hot foods and drinks. We got a hot chocolate and decided to go for a walk around while we drank. Although it wasn't sunny, it wasn't raining either so it was just a cosy, overcast Autumn day which. We walked around until our hot chocolates were finished and that was when we decided to go into one of the botanic greenhouses. It was just so relaxing having a little walk past all of the different plants. On the day we went it wasn't busy either which was definitely a bonus.

After our walk around the first greenhouse, we decided to take a walk along the outdoor trails. This was when things felt really autumnal because the leaves were falling off of the trees so we were walking through them all and taking in the sights of the orange and red leafed trees. There were many different routes to take outdoors and we definitely didn't come close to walking everywhere but where we did walk was so lovely and there was a lot to look at and take in. We also saw many squirrels while outdoors which I was loving because I love seeing squirrels out in the wild😄

Once we made our way back to the main gardens, we went into the second greenhouse. The inside reminded me of something from a movie which I loved. As well as all of the cool plants, there was also a lot of funky looking things made from recycled/reused materials.

Once we had finished up at the gardens (because we were getting hungry😄) we decided to find somewhere to get food. We stumbled across a really cool little cafe/bakery named Kothel along Great Western Road. The inside looked amazing and the vibes were just so chilled. The food was great too which definitely made the whole experience complete. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and a Greco which was a ciabatta filled with grilled vegetables, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes and halloumi which was all very delicious.

We walked back to our subway stop and got off at Buchanan Galleries to do a little bit of shopping before grabbing another hot chocolate for the train home. It was such a perfect little cosy, autumnal day and something I'd love to do all over again in the future - maybe also during summer/spring when all the flowers are blooming in the sunshine.

Bye for now, xo
