Netflix Christmas Movies

For the past two years, on this blog, I've created posts about the Christmas movies I enjoy watching (you can find these here and here if you want to give them a read). This year I've been watching the Christmas movies that Netflix have made and so I thought I'd put together a few recommendations, if you're looking for something else to watch this holiday season.

Netflix have been creating their own Christmas films for a while now and, as cheesy and cliched as they all are, I still enjoy watching them for those very reasons. They are very much just like your usual Hallmark movie which is probably why I enjoy them as those types of Christmas movies are definitely my guilty pleasure. Here are some of the Netflix Christmas movies I have watched and enjoyed:

The Holiday Calendar
"A talented photographer stuck in a dead-end job inherits an antique Advent calendar that may be predicting the future -- and pointing her toward love."
I had wanted to watch this film because it starred Kat Graham who I had loved in The Vampire Diaries. I loved the idea of a magical holiday advent calendar and although the ending was predictable, I still enjoyed the movie as a whole. It's definitely a cute Christmassy film to watch this holiday season.

The Princess Switch
"Stacy makes delicious confections. Her look-alike has royal connections. Swapping lives gives both a taste of what they're missing."
For this movie, I had wanted to watch it because it starred Vanessa Hudgens and the fact that she plays not only one, but two characters makes it even better. I enjoyed the storyline and the setting of this movie.

The Knight Before Christmas
"She'd given up on her own happily ever after. Then a knight showed up just days before Christmas -- shining armour and all."
This film also stars Vanessa Hudgens which is again the main reason I had wanted to watch it. The settings and visuals of this movie are so festive and I love it. It was such a cute and heartwarming movie.

Let It Snow
"A snowstorm hits a small town on a cold Christmas Eve affecting the friendships, love lives and futures of  several high school seniors."
This movie is slightly less cheesy than the others so far on this list, but it's still an overall cute, Christmassy film featuring a cast with various up and coming (and already established) stars. I saw this being described as a "teenage version of 'Love Actually' and in some ways that's accurate as this movie has different characters storylines that all come together in one way or another at the end of the movie.

The Christmas Chronicles
"After accidentally crashing Santa's sleigh, a brother and sister pull an all-nighter to save Christmas with a savvy, straight-talking St. Nick."
This movie had been on my watchlist since last year but I only just recently got round to watching it. I really enjoyed the story and there were a few funny moments. This movie is a little less cheesy than a few of the other films on the list and I loved Kurt Russell's version of Santa Claus. It's a great modern Christmas film.

A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish
"Despite her vain stepmother and mean stepsisters, an aspiring singer works as an elf at a Christmas tree lot and finds her own holiday miracle."
This movie featured two ex-Disney stars, Laura Marano ('Austin and Ally') and Gregg Sulkin ('Wizards of Waverly Place') and I felt both worked pretty well together in making their characters believable. I feel like there are now quite a few Cinderella Story type movies but I still enjoy them nonetheless. I liked that this movie had a musical aspect to it and it was also full of cheesy Christmas-ness which just made it all the more fun.
*I've just noticed that this actually isn't a Netflix Christmas movie, but it is on Netflix and is still a fun, cheesy Christmas movie to watch.*

Merry happy Whatever
"A strong-willed patriarch must balance the demands of his complicated family with the stress of the Christmas season when his youngest daughter comes home for the holidays with a new boyfriend."
This isn't a film, it's a Netflix original series but I still wanted to include it on this list because I watched it all in about two days and really enjoyed it. I thought the choice of casting was perfect for the story and I really enjoyed the storyline itself. I hope it comes back for another season next December.

Netflix Christmas movies that are still on my watchlist are:
'Christmas Inheritance'
'Klaus'
'Holiday Rush'

Are there any Netflix Christmas films that you enjoy watching?

Bye for now, xo
