A Christmas Q&A

During Autumn, I did 'An Autumn Q&A' blog post which I found quite fun to do so I thought I'd do the same for Christmas! This was quite fun to do because it made me think on all the reasons why I love this season and thinking back on happy, festive memories.
What's your favourite Christmas film?
If you've been reading my blog for a while then I'm sure you'll already know the answer to this question, but for those who don't, my most favourite Christmas film of all time is 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas' (2000). I honestly know this full movie off by heart and have watched it every single December for as long as I can remember. I have so many wonderful memories of watching this film and it's always the first Christmas movie I'll watch as soon as my room is decorated so that I can fully get into the Christmas spirit.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?
I can't actually 100% remember if I've ever had a white Christmas before but I'm sure I must have at some point in my 20 years on this earth. I feel it either snows before or after Christmas but rarely ever on Christmas day though. About two years ago we came really close to a white Christmas - we had a white boxing day instead😄. I'm always hoping for a white Christmas though because I feel that everything feels just that little bit more magical and Christmassy when it does snow.

What is your favourite Christmas song?
This is quote a hard question because I feel that my favourite Christmas song would be whatever Christmas song I'm listening to at the time😄. But I think a few of my firm favourites which have stayed the same throughout the years would be:
  •  I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard
  • Where Are You Christmas? - Faith Hill
  • Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon & Yoko Ono
  • Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid
  • Step Into Christmas - Elton John

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to?
I'm looking forward to going around all of the garden centres because they all look so festive and magical at this time of year. One thing I normally always do at Christmas time was go to see a Pantomime, this is the first year that I haven't done that.

Any Christmas Eve Traditions?
On Christmas Eve, my family and I bake our own gingerbread houses which I love because it makes the whole house smell amazing. We usually have a competition (me&dad against my mum&brother) to see who can decorate their house the best. In the evening on Christmas Eve, my family and I all watch a Christmas movie together while drinking hot chocolate. Our go-to movie when I was younger had always been 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas' however, in recent years we've just been watching any film as long as it's set at Christmas time - Last year we watched 'Gremlins' which I had never seen before and I loved it.

What is your favourite holiday food/sweet/treat?
My favourite holiday food is actually probably stuffing😄 I love it! My favourite holiday treat is definitely cheeselets (known as 'treeselets' during the festive period). Once I start eating them, I can't stop, they're so good!

Do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
When I was younger, i definitely liked receiving them however, now I'd much rather give a gift than receive one. I love either giving a gift that I know someone will love because of the sentimental value of it, or getting them a humorous gift because I think they're the best to give😄.

What is your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
There are three different places I'd really like to one day visit at this time of year:
- Copenhagen, Denmark. Looks like somewhere from a movie at Christmas time. From the pictures I've seen, it looks like the most festive place at this time of year.
- Salzburg, Austria. This is a place I'd really like to visit anyway because it's where 'The Sound of Music' was filmed so I've always wanted to go. It looks especially inviting at Christmas time though. All the markets look so cute.
- Nuremberg, Germany. I've always wanted to go to an actual German market in Germany and where better than Nuremberg which is renowned for its Christmas market!

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I fail miserably at wrapping gifts😄. It's just not one of my talents in life although I always try my best. This is an issue when it comes to secret Santa's though as everyone knows who has gotten my gift because of the wrapping😄

What makes the holidays special for you?
Spending time with my family is what makes Christmas special for me. Also having much needed days out with friends since uni work is on hold meaning we can finally all spend some time together.

Answering these questions has definitely got me feeling Christmassy!

Bye for now, xo
