Favourite Christmas Songs

Last year I did a blog post sharing my Christmas playlist, this year I thought I'd blog about some of my favourite Christmas songs. This list was really hard to narrow down since I love so many Christmas songs. At work, Christmas songs have been playing all day everyday since way back at the start of November which I have been loving and all my workmates have been slowly growing to hate😄. I think they're sick of hearing non-stop Christmas songs all day whereas I, on the other hand, am still enjoying hearing all the songs play throughout the day. Christmas songs definitely put me in the Christmas spirit as now is the only time of year that I listen to these songs. I like how Christmas songs are ones that you wait pretty much all year to hear again which I think makes them that little bit more special.

Anyway, here are my top ten favourite Christmas songs - in no particular order:

Where Are You Christmas? - Faith Hill
This song plays at the end of my favourite ever Christmas film ('How The Grinch Stole Christmas') and of course it's on my favourite Christmas songs list! When I was younger, I used to act out the scene from the movie where little Cindy Lou Who sings this song in her bedroom. When I eventually properly sat through the end credits of the film and realised that there was another version of the song - Faith Hill's version - I immediately loved it.

Last Christmas - Wham!
This is a song that I never really used to give much attention to but these past couple of years have seen it move onto my favourites list.

Step Into Christmas - Elton John
This was the first Christmas song I heard this year which is pretty cool considering this years John Lewis advert features Sir Elton John.

Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid (1984 version)
This is a song which was written in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in reaction to reports of the 1983-1985 famine in Ethiopia. It was first recorded in a one day on the 25th of November, 1984 by a supergroup which consisted mainly of the biggest British and Irish musical acts at the time. Since then, the song has been re-recorded a few times by different famous people but the original version is still my favourite.

Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade
One of my earliest memories of hearing this song was when I was about four years old on a Nursery trip to visit Santa Claus. We'd all just been given our presents and were allowed to go on the bouncy castle that was there and this song was playing in the background. It always puts me straight into the Christmassy mood every time I hear it.

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
This song always reminds me of 'Home Alone' (and also always makes me want to watch 'Home Alone' every time i hear this song).

Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon
This song is the first track on my favourite Christmas album ('The best Christmas Album in the world ... ever!'). I used to listen to the CD almost every night before bed and as this is the first track, it was always the song I was guaranteed to hear before falling asleep before reaching the end of the CD. The very beginning of this song always brings back lots of Christmas memories and feelings.

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard
This song always reminds me of school Christmas dances because I'm pretty sure it was always played at some point during the dance.

Merry Christmas Everyone - Shakin' Stevens
When myself, my brother and cousins were younger, we used to go to our grans every day before school. At Christmas time, my gran would play her Christmas CD in the living room and we'd all jump about singing along to it (the perfect start to the day before school if you ask me😄). This was our favourite song to sing and dance to.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams
I feel like this is such a classic Christmas song and it definitely puts me in the Christmassy mood every time I listen to it.

Whats your favourite Christmas songs?

Bye for now, xo
