Travel Diaries: Beach Days and Sunsets
This is the first blog post of this years travel diaries! Now that I'm back home, I'm back to working summer shifts at my part-time job which means I haven't had a lot of time yet to work on my travel diary blog posts but I'll be writing and posting them whenever I get the chance.
This year I went to the North of France for the full month of July. I stayed in Isigny-le-Buat in a small cottage known as La Befferie. Whilst in France, I visited various towns and villages and did many different things. One of my favourite things to do this year had been going to the beach later on in the day and getting to enjoy the sunsets.
The beach I went to was in Carrolles which was about forty five minutes away from where I was staying. It was generally pretty busy during the day. There are two little cafes/bar- brasserie's close to the beach so it can be quite touristy but I found it to be a lovely beach.
This year while on holiday, I got to tick two beach related things off of my bucket list. These were: to have a barbecue on the beach and to watch the sunset on a beach. These are two things that I would definitely recommend that you try to do at some point in your lifetime. I love going to the beach in general, but I loved it even more in the late afternoon/early evening. At that time the beach generally tends to be less busy than what it’s like during the day which I much preferred. Going in the late afternoon also meant that the sea had spent the full day warming up in the sun so it was much warmer to go in (I’m not too sure if that’s how it actually works, but the sea was warmer later in the day than it had been on the days we went in the early afternoon😄).
Prior to going to the beach, we had bought a little portable BBQ and had brought along some food in a cool box to cook on the BBQ. We took reusable plastic plates and cups for the food and drink. Every since I was little I had always had plans to one day have a BBQ on the beach but I had never really put any thought into actually doing it (I don’t even know why to be honest, maybe I had been worried that it would be a complete disaster and ruin all my beach BBQing dreams😄) but it turned out pretty good so we had a couple of beach BBQs on different days.
After enjoying the food, we stayed to watch the sunset (another dream of mine). I love sunsets and sunrises and to see the sunset from the beach was truly like a little magical moment for me. It was beautiful. Now I want to try and see the sun rise from the beach one day!
Everything looked so golden and beautiful during that time of day. I loved it.
What's your favourite thing about the beach?
Bye for now, xo
